Hello,
My name is Steph. I inherited my father's stamp collection this year and have been working hard to categorize them before I give birth in 7 weeks, which is highly unlikely but it is keeping me busy!
I am creating my own catalogue which if I ever finish I would love to share with my fellow collectors.
Have an amazing day!

Welcome to TSF, Steph ( stephied )! It sounds like you are quite busy these days, and with a baby due in a matter of weeks, wow! If you are in search of a digital version of a stamp catalogue, please feel free to contact me by PM, and I will try to help if I can. Best of luck with your dad's stamps and that new collector on the way.... -Chris

I have one question about the SG catalogue. When it says something like "W w 10" or "W w 11", what watermarks is that referring too?

Welcome stephied There should be a list with all watermarks in front of the catalogue I think and each watermark has been given a number. There are free online catalogues where you can mark stamps you have and stamps that you want.

hi stephied - warm welcome to TSF from London U.K. - wish you the best of luck with your Father's collection. Hope I haven't broken any copyright rules, but am attaching an extract from the large SG British Commonwealth catalogue (2020) which may provide some explanation of their system regarding wmks - this is an extension to the helpful comments from tobben63Some of the SG referencing methodology can be a little daunting - it can mean flicking back and forth on pages occasionally looking at the T (types) showing designs.

Welcome to the Stamp Forum Steph! After watching the birth of our four children and raising them to adulthood I truly recognize how simple stamp collecting is in comparison to raising a family. In the chaos of family, work and life, I appreciate how I can take a stamp and place it in whatever order I want and it will generally stay there. I am master of my stamp universe. Not so with children, and who would want it any other way - at least most days. God bless you with a healthy birth and enjoy ordering your stamp universe.

Welcome to the Stamp Forum stephied from Scugog, Canada! I too have relearn watermarks, thank you paul1 for the clarification on standard colony watermarks. After a while they become second nature. The issue I have is Aussie watermarks. I have a stack of Roos and GV heads that I get frustrated with. Winter is coming, I may tackle them one snowy day. Enjoy your fathers collection, I am sure, like all of us, he put a lot of time and effort into it. I have my father's and his, it is nice way to remember them! Cheers

Hi again everyone. I have a question about Colonial Queensland Official Stamps. The only info that the SG catalogue has about QLD "OS" Colonial stamps is 'Following the establishment of the Commonwealth of Australia, federal department offices within the state were supplied with Queensland stamps punctured with the initials 'OS'. Are these stamps worth anything? Where can I find more information on them if there is any?

Hello stephied - we had a similar question recently - have a look here ..... thestampforum.boards.net/board/378/queensland - won't give you an in depth history of these perfins, but a start and you may be able to go on from there. Have you tried the internet to source details on these O.S. stamps?

I only have one perforated OS QLD stamp so its not big drama, I would just rather the consistency.
