Though I am familiar with many users on this site, I am overdue to sign up. I am Scott English, Executive Director of the APS for the past eight years. I try to visit forums and engage when possible. Forgive me if I miss an issue or thread, but would love to hear from you.
As for collecting, I collect Cuba during the Republic period and have a fun collection of the 1954-5 Navidad stamp with Santa Claus. It started as a novelty for my wife, she's a big Christmas fan, but we search them out now whenever we're traveling to shows.
I also collect political mail and South Carolina postal history, along with assortment of accumulations of things that interest me.

Welcome from Canada! I've enjoyed your posts in other forums and your notes in the APS magazine. I think you'll like the vibe here. It's a friendly place with some deep knowledge (not me, but the others have taught me a lot. )

Thank you for the kind welcome. I like good vibes and never say no to smart collectors sharing knowledge. Big fan of Canada and Canadian collectors. I picked up this cover from GASS from Roy Houtby. The 1974 ice hockey issue with a cachet from the Series of the Century, signed by Yvon Cournoyer and Paul Henderson. I was a toddler when this series happened, but I've seen the games several times. One of the most amazing stories never told in the US.

Welcome to the group. Hubby is Canadian and OMG the family loves their hockey, eh? I used to get lost trying to follow the games, but those color enhanced puck thingies REALLY helped. SW Ontario family roots for the Red Wings. happy stamping!

Welcome to TSF, Scott ( scottenglish )! It’s great to have you with us! You and I met at the WESTPEX back in 2017, where I attended a town hall session that you chaired. But of course, I wouldn't expect you to remember that! Also, I was at the recent GASS in Cleveland (just the first day), and I heard you speak at the “Life Magnified” ceremony. Not sure if I made it into your selfie, though, as I was standing off to the side. Anyway, great to see you here, and I hope you will enjoy your time with us. -Chris Back in California after 5 years in Europe

Welcome to The Stamp Forum Scott (scottenglish), You will find this to be one of the friendliest Forums under the APS umbrella. We may not have the lustre of say, the Royal Philatelic Society of London but we can certainly lay claim to serious philately leaving no stones unturned... A casual stroll through our archives will reveal the depth of expertise and experience of the TSF membership past and present. I'd love to see some gems from your Cuba collection sometime. I've also really enjoyed your writings from 'Outside the Tent'. Rob in Michigan

Welcome scottenglish to TSF; my interactions with the APS have been nothing but positive to date :-) From your introduction, the words "have a fun collection..." stuck out for me as it sums up the hobby.
How we define 'fun' is up to the individual collector... Have fun and happy collecting!!
