What I collect: Worldwide Stamps 1840-1930

Greetings, all: I am working on the next issue of the TSF Newsletter, and I am needing to check a reference that was given for a submitted article. The reference is: I would very much like to see a copy of this entire publication, if possible, but even a copy of just the article by F.P. Renaut would suffice. There is also a chance that the date may be incorrect, and that is one of the reasons I am trying to check. I note that at one time, about 10 years ago or so, SG offered a DVD (CDs?) archive of all of their monthly publications from 1890-2009 for purchase. These days, it seems that one can buy an annual subscription to the same information for about $100. That is still more than I want to pay for this one item I am looking for. By any chance, do any of our members have access to the Gibbons Monthly archival database? If so, please let me know if you would be willing to help me to check this reference. Many thanks, Chris

Chris ( Beryllium Guy ), I believe that 1973 is a typo. When I searched Google on Stanley Gibbons Monthly Circular a listing on Amazon for Number 42 came up in the results (Stanley Gibbons" Monthly Circular. No. 42 Feb 1923). The year of the circular you're inquiring about is 1923. Have you tried the APRL? They may have a copy of the article or be able to acquire one.

Thanks so much for that, Steve ( Admin)! I feel sure that you are right about this. I had also done a Google search, but I may have used too many keywords, so I wasn’t able to see the results that you did. 1923 makes good sense in the context of the article, too. I have not yet contacted the APRL on this one, but I will try to do it next week after the holiday. Thanks again!

Gibbons Stamp Magazine is a monthly journal still printed in the UK which has its origins from 1890 .
The title has changed several times over the decades, but was The Stanley Gibbons Stamp Circular between 1919 and 1923 when it became the Stanley Gibbons monthly Journal till 1927 before changing again to Gibbons Stamp Monthly .
the title “Circular” confirms 1923 as the correct time period.

It was Stanley Gibbons Monthly journal from 1890 as well. It seems like they couldn't make their minds up in the 1920's !!
If you ever need an edition from 1925, I have them !!!
