Hello! My name is Nathan and I am 28, and I've been collecting since around 2006, but much more seriously after the lockdowns in 2020.
Stamp collecting is by far my favorite hobby, and takes up most of my free time!
I collect primarily 19th and 20th century stamps, with some exceptions for designs I really like.
I focus mostly on 4 areas of collection, United States, Canada, Denmark, & Austria.
I have a degree of specialization for each area, some more well defined than others:
For the United States, I collect the classics (that I can readily afford, also somewhat disregarding the Banknote issues as I'm not a fan of the designs,) as well as early machine cancels on cover, particularly Barr-Fyke and Barry machines.
I'm also starting a collection of Postal History from Monroe and Onondaga counties in New York, as they have been the two places I've lived in the state, and I'm fond of the history of them as well.
For Canada, I specialize in the Small Queens of 1870 to 1893, mostly just the stamps and cancels, I have not yet delved into the postal history of the area.
For Denmark, I collect the Bicolored Ore issues of 1875 to 1901, these are by far my favorite stamps, and I hope to someday complete plate reconstructions of a few of the values.
For Austria, I really enjoy collecting the various cancels available on the Franz Joseph issue from 1867 to 1880.
I also have a burgeoning collection of the 1900 Switzerland UPU issue, something I also hope to complete some kind of plating work someday.
In addition to all that, I also have some smaller, not as focused collections, such as used Mexico to 1993 (when the album I have ends,) the stamps engraved by Czeslaw Slania, as well as floral topicals, particularly lilies, lilacs, hydrangeas, and peonies.
I hope to make a lot of connections and learn even more about this amazing hobby while on this forum!
Thank you!
