Hello!
My name is Patrik - I’m 58 years old and live in Sweden. My stamp interest started relatively late; I was in my early 30s when a friend gave me a small envelope with stamps of different animals and a few with the wwf logo. Since I was keenly interested in travel and nature, I was quite fascinated by the colourful stamps showing endangered animals from different parts of the world. This is how it all started. Soon after, I visited a local stamp show and came in contact with a stamp dealer who provided me with many additional stamps with the wwf-theme. From this point, I never lost interest in stamps, and I’m still looking for new additions to my collection, which today has grown a bit too much (I must admit). My philatelic “education” (during my early stamp career) came from assisting a stamp dealer with his auctions. This great experience helped me understand the hobby in a broader perspective. I collect primarily topics and themes, for example, stamps of animals issued before 1960, besides the stamps of the wwf-theme. I also collect an odd theme which I call “dictators and other bad guys” – essentially unpleasant historical people (plenty of them on stamps!). My country collections include a few East African countries (Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia etc.), mostly pre-1970. I joined your club to learn more about stamps and make new connections.

I also collect an odd theme which I call “dictators and other bad guys” – essentially unpleasant historical people (plenty of them on stamps!). Ha ha - I have a similar interest in books, biographies on awful people. Welcome to our forum, I'm particularly interested in seeing your stamps from this collection! Ryan
