I haven’t seen very many examples of private businesses overprinting stamps. How about sharing examples that you have found? I found this overprinted copy of the 1937 Irish Constitution issue this morning while culling duplicates. The overprint reads “Reserved for Queen’s Old Castle” and the cancel reads “Queen’s Old Castle PAID with thanks. Correction - “Received for …” thanks, daniel
Queens Old Castle is a department store in Cork. So instead of using perforated initials, this company used an overprint. I wonder if they had permission? I’ve never seen another Irish stamp with private OPs. Here’s a pic of Old Queen’s Castle. The building is still there and as of last year, was being refurbished.

Hi Terri philatelia, That's a nice find. The overprint actually reads "Received for/Queen's Old Castle" and would have been used for collecting revenue fees, 2p in this case, charged for handwritten receipts. Daniel
