I received a message to my Facebook page, Definitively Stamps, from a follower named Kaeli. She asks, "Hi there...hoping you can help... I have several of these stamps and am wondering if you ever identified which company used the cancellation with "T.B.D. Co" as seen top left in the first photo of your forum post or any other companies that might make the stamps more valuable such as The Coca Cola Co. Thanks for any help~" She had found this post here on The Stamp Forum below. When you click on the link and go to the post, you will immediately see the stamp she is referencing. thestampforum.boards.net/post/136054/threadDoes anyone have knowledge of this area that I can pass along to Kaeli?

daniel, thank you for your help. The other part of her question is value which, in my opinion, except to a specialist collector in this series, isn’t going to vary much from what a catalogue will tell you. So there is no specific premium or value bump based on the company name printed on the stamp. Is this an incorrect opinion?

Here is another website that specializes in Battleship proprietary and documentary revenue stamps. This has an extreme amount of detail and is a really great reference if you decide to go down this collecting rabbit hole. Battleship Revenue Stamps

So there is no specific premium or value bump based on the company name printed on the stamp. Is this an incorrect opinion? Darrin, they don't appear to be catalogued that way. However, if you are specialising in these stamps then I imagine that you would pay a little extra for the overprints/cancels especially if the stamps are in good condition. Daniel

daniel , thank you for your response. I do collect them but I am asking the question on behalf of the person I mentioned at the top of the thread. In further conversations with her, she seems to have one of these proprietary revenues with a Coca Cola Co. overprint/cancel and, because she doesn't see any for sale on eBay or wherever she is looking, thinks that because it is a well-known brand, she has a (in her words), "goldmine". I will let her down gently.
