Can someone tell me the significance of the Fra Faergen (assuming I read it correctly) marking on this card?

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

Let’s ask Morten ( classicalstamps), who is Danish, to see if he can definitively answer this question.

Denmark is made up of many islands, whilst recently some bridge connections have been built, for many years ferries had post boxes and mail got hand stamped to indicate it had been collected off one or other ferry , so we see Fra Aarhus, Fra Bornholm , Fra Ronne Fra Sverige etc
In fact the first handwritten line of the postcard reads “Aarhus-Kallundborg Faergen”. Ie on the Aarhus to Kallunborg ferry

The reason you got the rare translation from Google probably was that you wrote "Fra Fargen" witch means from color. On the card it's written "Fra Færgen" witch means From ferry.

It is of the postmark type known as "kassepost". Impossible for me to translate. It is of the "paquebot" family. The type is "Fra (from) ___" usually a name of city or country. In the case of "Fra Færgen", it is used on inland mail arriving in Århus (by boat/ferry). Here are the other types of kassepost postmarks: (Anholz, 1953)

It is of the postmark type known as "kassepost". Impossible for me to translate. It is of the "paquebot" family. Hi Morten classicalstamps , I always understood it to translate simply as “ box post “. Ie applied to mail dropped in a special Post box on the ferry. similar posting boxes were found on the Ferry from England to the continent. They were called in French. “Boites Mobile” and mail was marked “B.M.” Such mail involved separate handling to transfer to the regular mail system and the marks could excuse any delay in delivery.( at a time when post offices took pride in prompt delivery….unlike today’s post.)
