I have three plus binders of souvenir sheets and etc. that are duplicates of what I already have in my collection. I am a member of the APS and I get the AP Journal every month. I see this ad for Dr. Robert Friedman & Sons. On the full page ad it states that the collector may send them the stamps the collector would like to sell and that they will provide the boxes, tape and payment labels so that the collector can ship the stamps to them at no cost to the collector.
I am usually of the opinion when something sounds too good to be true it usually is. Has anyone on TSF had any experience with this company? If not this company any company and what was the experience like? I have reached for my phone several times to call them just to get a lay of the land. I am easily talked into something sometimes even when I know better. I can't blame my age as I have been like that pretty much my whole life.
Anyone who has had experience good, bad, or indifferent, I would really like to hear your experience story. I appreciate anyone who would take the time to tell me their story.
Thanks, Nick

I continue to get tricked and after I write a post I select the REPLY button instead of "Post Quick Reply" I kick myself every time I realize I made the wrong selection. My question all the ones that are sent with the BLUE REPLY button where do they go? I wrote a series of questions asking about where to acquire more stamps. For the life of me I cannot find where that Reply went. This time I spent quite a bit of time making up the questions and all that is lost to me.
Next question is the Shoutbox history kept some where on this site?
Thanks Nick

If you click on "Profile" up in the masthead- it will open your profile- in the main window, under latest status, email, birthday and such, you will see two (2) short 'sentences"- one to

"this member" in this case is you!
When I first joined the forum I used these links quite often as I could not seem to remember where I had posted what (or in some cases, I'd left the window before hitting the 'Creat Post button.....

Don’t forget to hit the post quick reply or create post buttons in the bottom corners when you are finished typing what you want to say. You may be losing your work in this case.

I have no experience with the company but have seen the many ads. I would not worry but it would be interesting to see how much they offer. All the customer service has a cost.

I've bought from Dr. Friedman and they sell collections in the 25-70% of catalogue value range, so I would hazard to guess their buying rates are going to be much less a percent of catalogue value, but in general that is how it is with most stamp dealers, you buy at retail and sell at wholesale - the dealer does need to be able to make a profit off the items they purchase for resale.

Being new to this platform I also cannot seem to locate my posts from time to time unless someone posts comments. So, this was great to locate my question about buying from a dealer. I still am not sure what the big blue Reply does that Post Quick Reply does or doesn't do. If I want my post to count to my reply total and etc. I was told to use Post Quick Reply. The reply button seems to do something different, and I have yet to figure out why it is there.
Anyway, back to topic I have all my dup's listed on Stamps2go and they have been moving along but very slowly. There is a strong competition for selling a stamp, which makes the price much more competitive. I was thinking it might be much easier if I offer them as a complete group I might do better as it will open up a lot of space in my stamp room. I have to admit I guess I do understand why a dealer wants to buy at 10% of catalog and sell at 85% of catalog. As stamp stores have closed and the dealer sells only through internet a good percentage of his cost has gone away. But their buying and selling margins have stayed the same.
I appreciate others thoughts on which dealer they have had experience with.
Nick
What really gets me is some who sell on HIP stamps actually price their stamps at 100 plus percent. That to me is just not fair and once I see the catalog price for MNH and then see that the dealer is asking more than the catalog selling price I know to be very careful and check twice before selecting that stamp to buy.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

The Post Quick Reply is exactly as it sounds. It is meant for a short answer or reply. I am familiar with the lost posts from my early days here. After entering a short reply the natural inclination is to hit the Reply tab which takes you to the more detailed reply field. If you are using the Post Quick Reply you need to hit the post tab at the bottom. I am sure that one of the administrators can give you a more complete answer. The procedure does vary between a desk top, pad and smart phone.

Not an admin, but on a laptop... When you don't want to add any formatting, links, smilies..., just type directly in the Quick Reply text box, and then click "Post Quick Reply" button at the bottom left to submit. You post will appear in the same thread that you were reading. When you want to add formatting, links, smilies..., then click on the blue "Reply" button. You will be taken to a new text entry box that has all the bells/whistles. After you finish typing/formatting, then remember to click the "Create Post" button at the bottom right of the page (you may have to scroll down) to submit. If you don't click on "Create Post", what you typed will be lost in Never Never Land. If you already typed something in the Quick Reply text box, and accidentally click on the blue "Reply" button instead of "Post Quick Reply", everything you typed will be copied into the new Reply text entry box. I've accidentally done this many times. No worries, just remember to click on the "Create Post" at the bottom right corner! k

Getting back on track with "selling to a dealer"
I returned to stamp collecting in 1973 and was asked by a family friend to look at his uncle's collection . "I was offered £200 from Dealer XXXXXXX " he said "is that a fair offer ?"
Page 1 of a massive Schaubeck pre war album had more than £100 India used in Aden. 12 months later we had realised £5000 via the auctions and private trading route!
