We’re long overdue for a nice chat thread. So how about everyone posting the answer to this question; “what do you most wish to find and add to your collection next?” Are there any special items that you’re prowling price lists and auctions hoping to find? For example, if you logged on to EBay right now what would be the first thing you searched for? A certain single? A bag of kiloware? And - let’s hear from some new members. Don’t be shy! I’ll go first. Hmmmmm the first thing that popped into my mind was a Faroes bisect cover - that’s the main thing I’m missing for that collection. I’m saving my pennys and hoping… Something like this one;

searching for a France Yvert 64 Type IA with a 'uncanceled" denomination frame. Mint examples have become very cost prohibitive.... everything I've found used thus far is poorly scanned and the selelr doesn't seem to know (or care) about IA versus IB.... Looked for an online image I might be able to use, but resolutions are too low....;.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I wish I could say there was one item but in reality I have a few dozen saved searches, mostly related to my ongoing look for covers from the various post offices in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I will not get excited till I see something special with historical significance. With covers it is like shopping not knowing what you are looking for till it jumps out at you. When I travel I tend to buy art the same way. Many trips I buy nothing but if a small painting speaks to me it usually comes home with me.

I spent a fair amount of time recently updating my wantlists for Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland, with every intention to work on filling a few holes over the next few months. Flash forward to yesterday when an eBay seller sent an offer on an off paper mixture I’d been watching. Five pounds, with few CTOs and minimal US. I went through a similar mix from the same seller and really enjoyed it, so I decided to go with my gut. And besides, those holes aren’t going anywhere. Dale

This week the auction from Grimstad Filatelist klubb (Grimstad Philatelist club) was online. I hope to get one or two boxes with random philatelistic stuff. It's just like those small bags with treats and stuff I got when I was a kid, but this are for stamp hoarders Grimstad Auction

It will be a couple weeks before it gets here, but discovered there was a specialized catalogue for Armenia that goes into deep detail on the early overprints, and decided it had to be added to the library Hopefully will arrive by the end of the month - it is shipping from Yerevan, Armenia.

I’m specifically looking for US Scott #2 ten cent Washington or #630 White Plains sheet MNH. I have seen a few of these but just haven’t pushed the buy button. For one reason or another the time has just not been right for me to buy either. I am also looking for any US stamps from the 1800’s. My collection is pretty much complete except this time frame.

You're doing the same thing I am. My U.S. airmail collection is complete from 1918 to 1993 where I stopped collecting new issues, with the single exception of the high-value Zeppelin. I can afford it, I just never get around to getting one. If I go looking, either there are a bunch that have problems, or I think "you know, I could get a whole ton of stamps with that money!" and I don't do it.
One of these days though, I'll see one that calls out to me, then I'll pull the trigger.
