Recently I have seen some more expensive British Colony stamps for sale on ebay with certificates from Dr. Edwin J. Andrews. I don't remember ever hearing about him providing certificates. Is anyone familiar with his expertise?

I found this on the internet, but no reviews of his work or information on his expertizing qualifications.
Dr. Edwin J. Andrews – APS Treasurer Candidate Statement
As someone who has collected stamps since age 8, I value the leadership that APS provides to the hobby. I would be honored to serve as APS Treasurer providing my many years of experience in a wide variety of financial business disciplines to the organization. When consulting for not-for-profit organizations I always emphasize that board members should chart the future course and provide the necessary resources, so the organization can achieve its strategic goals. Boards should not micromanage organizations, rather, provide executive oversight and direction. I ask for your vote so I can bring to APS my many skills, to help them in achieving future success.
I am a seasoned executive with leadership experience in Fortune 500 companies such as Johnson & Johnson (VP R&D, and Director of Global Marketing) and Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals (Senior VP [Global] for Science & Technology). My academic career included Director of a diagnostic laboratory at Cornell University and Professor and Dean at the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently I was global Director of Academic and Educational Programs & Services for the Project Management Institute, the largest membership organization representing project managers worldwide. In all of these leadership positions I had responsibility for large numbers of staff, and budgets often exceeding 50 million dollars. I am grounded in financial management, budgeting and the management of complex organizations.
Since retiring in 2011, I have been the Principle of Andrews Consulting Enterprises LLC, specializing in support of academic and not-for-profit organizations, providing financial planning, budgeting, strategic planning, marketing, international relations, project management and general management consulting. My clients have ranged from Tongji University in Shanghai China to the University of West Indies in Trinidad, where I created a long range (five-year) strategic plan and accompanying financial plan for a medical education program. I have been a board member of many national and international not-for-profit organizations over the years and am very familiar with board responsibilities and oversight.
Presently I am a member of APS CANEJ, an accredited Chief Philatelic Judge, Editor of the forthcoming 7th Edition of the APS Manual for Philatelic Judging and Exhibiting, and a former member of the APS Membership Committee. Also, I am Treasurer of the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors, and am a Board member of the POLONUS Philatelic Society. Formerly, I was a Director of the Greater Philadelphia Stamp and Collectors Club and a Director of the Philadelphia National Stamp Exhibition. I am currently a member of the APS, AAPE, ARA, ATA, USPCS, MPHS, The Collectors Club (NY), GPS and the POLONUS Philatelic Society.
Dr. Edwin J. Andrews Lifelong collector and member of APS for over 43 years, Dr. Edwin Andrews, has exhibited 101 times since 1972. His 27 different exhibits use a variety of treatments, including: display, thematic, aerophilately, revenue, fiscal revenue, postal history, military postal history, Cinderella, topical, picture post card, one frame, and traditional. Dr. Andrews has earned a myriad of gold/large gold medals and special awards. He has won multiple Grand and Reserve Grand awards. Dr. Andrews is an accredited Chief Philatelic Judge and former member of CANEJ (2013-2019). He was Lead Editor for the APS Manual of Philatelic Judging and Exhibiting (7th Ed. 2017). Edwin was a Board Member, Treasurer and is a Life member of the AAPE. He is a member of numerous philatelic societies; and is currently a Board Member and President of the Polonus Polish Philatelic Society.

Thanks for your post, kgvistamps , and for your added info, Mr. H I would like to begin by stating that I am not at all familiar with Dr. Andrews or his philatelic expertizing certificates, so this is more of a general comment than about Dr. Andrews, and it is not meant to criticize him in particular. It would appear from the original post that Dr. Andrews works by himself, and for me, that is reason enough to be cautious about any such certificate, not just one from him. Sergio Sismondo, now deceased, appears to have done the same thing, and I am sure that there are other dealers and those who consider themselves "experts" who do the same. I would place more value on a certificate from an organization like the APS, RPSL, or BPA that normally require more than one expert to agree on a decision. BPA apparently will not certify an example without at least three experts in agreement. This is just my opinion, so take that for what it's worth. Also remember that "free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it."

Also remember that "free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it." Thanks for the free advice. The check is in the mail. I asked the question because I had some reservations about two of the items he identified. But it is difficult to accurately judge colors on the internet. But I have not heard of him either and to suddenly see a bunch of certificates made me curious.

Although I have known Ed Andrews for several years by way of the APS judging fraternity, I was surprised to find that he was certifying stamps for the hobby. I contacted Ed about this and he replied,
"...As to the cert service. Yes I am doing certs in areas of my expertise. I decline anything I do not feel comfortable assessing. Mainly US and British Commonwealth (also GB). If you want to pass on any info please do."
The previous posted bio info about Ed speaks for itself. If anyone is curious about the details of his service, his current email is included in the fine print on the posted cert.
