What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

A bit late but I did sit in on this week's Zoom session. Thanks Rob REL1948 for keeping us in the loop. It was interesting and George has a personality that fills a room. I felt a little out of my element when hearing the level of items his business is involved in but realise they also deal with the smaller collector as well. I am not at a point with my addiction to feel I need a dealer to help me with my habit but he made lots of good points.

REL1948Rob, apologies that I ended up missing this program. I met George Holschauer for the first time at WestPex in 2017, when I was still relatively new to TSF. I agree with Hugh's ( hdm1950) comment about George's personality: he seemed to me to be a sort of larger-than-life character. I recall having a very engaging conversation with him at that aforementioned WestPex. I also bought one set of stamps from him at the time, but I probably won't do that again, as his target clientele would seem to be collectors with substantial, i.e., virtually unlimited, spending budgets. I recall that he told me at the time that his prices were 80% of SG catalogue values, converted from GBP into USD. That didn't sound too bad when I heard it, but I admit that I was not all that familiar with the SG catalogue values at the time. I learned to my cost on that occasion that 80% of SG, depending on the CV relative to other catalogues and the GBP-to-USD conversion rate at the time, can easily leave one paying more than Scott CV for one's purchase, which is exactly what happened to me. Frankly speaking, there isn't much material out there for which I am willing to pay more than Scott CV, so that one transaction taught me a valuable lesson. Anyway, I will look for the YouTube recording when available so that I can hear what old George had to say for himself. If his program for BESG was anything like what I remember from talking with him at WestPex, it should be very entertaining!

Hey Rob REL1948, do you know if this presentation will make it to YouTube? I've been keeping an eye out but it hasn't appeared this month.
