It is with great sadness that I need to report the passing of longtime TSF member Jim Wentzell ( jimwentzell). I was contacted by his wife today, and she told me that Jim passed away suddenly last week. He was 64 years old. Jim joined TSF back in its inaugural year of 2013, so he was a member for more than 10 years. I will never forget meeting Jim and his family when they came to visit me in Aix-en-Provence in Oct-2018. You can find a photo of Jim and me together on that occasion here: thestampforum.boards.net/post/64068/threadJim was always very kind and generous to me with his friendship, his time, his knowledge, and his stamps. After his visit, Jim sent me a huge care package while I was still living in France, and Xavier ( hrdoktorx) and I had a good time going through all the material together. Jim was devoted to his family, his friends, his work with animals, and his hobby. He will be very much missed here at TSF. Rest in peace, my friend.

What a shock - he was so young! Oh my, what very sad news - his loss is truly a loss for all of us. Bless his wife for letting us know. This is a good reminder to all of us - please tell your family about your online friends so that they can notify those long distance folks. I would REALLY like to do more for a longtime forum member like Jim. Wasn’t he a member of the American Philatelic Society? His ebay name had APS177681 in it. I propose to make a memorial donation to the APS in his name and The Stamp Forum. We are an APS affiliated group. Admin Londonbus1 or Beryllium Guy - please let me know if you think we could do something like this. I know Steve is away for family right now, sorry to bother you. Could we each just make a donation and say that it is in his memory? If the club is OK with using the club name I’ll send today. I’m thinking of sending a donation saying “ Donation in memory of Jim Wentzell, APS 177681, from a fellow member of APS affiliate, The Stamp Forum.”

Sad news indeed. We had a number of exchanges over the years and he would always send me something from Sindelfingen Stamp exhibition which he loved to visit. He will be missed by TSF. My condolences and thoughts go out to his family and friends. R.I.P. Jim. Londonbus1

I always very much enjoyed his posts on here. Such a loss.
To conflate the sayings of two faith traditions,
May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in peace and rise in glory.

I am just checking in for the first time in months…this is not good news to come back to. 😞 May he rest in peace. And thank-you to his wife and Beryllium Guy for passing on the news. 😞

An Update on Jim's CollectionI was contacted again this week by Jim's widow to let me know that she has chosen Kelleher to handle the auction of his collection. Jim had an extensive amount of material, both stamps and postal history, much of which he apparently bought from Kelleher in the first place. URL: www.kelleherauctions.com/In any case, the current plan is for the material to be packaged and picked up sometime in the next couple of weeks, and the auction will take place in February or March 2024. I will post again here on the Forum once I have more concrete info. For now, just FYI.

This is sad news indeed. Had minimal interactions with Jim but always enjoyed his posts. He'll live on here, at least.
