I use Foxit and if you go to advance search you can search all the pdfs in any folder/directory.
I'm sure you would be able do similiar with Adobe.

michaelThank you, look forward to trying Foxit, then. I do not have adobe, and use Sumatra PDF viewer, no advanced search options I could see.

rod222, Windows Explorer should do this by default. If you go to a folder containing multiple PDFs and type a term into Explorer's search box, it should search the file names and contents of the files for that word.

Thanks PostmasterGS, I need to ask on their forum, I can search within 1 pdf. OK. Multiples? I dumped 2 pdfs to one folder, and tried a search on the parent folder, nothing.
Speed ? I am used to.
My Postage Stamp database has 400,000 files, (6000 Folders) It found "Perkins Bacon" 51 times, in 3 seconds.
As you are aware, I am unashamedly, a real dunce at IT.
PS: I'll look under Help, for "content search" thanks

rod222, I downloaded the trial version of XYPlorer to take a look a what could be wrong. There's a checkbox you need to check to make it work. Go to Tools/Configuration (or press F9). In the left-hand column, go down to Other/Shell Integration. Check the box to use 64-bit iFilters for content search. Let me know if that does/doesn't work.

Also, make sure you're using the Find Files function (Ctrl-F), which opens a search area at the bottom of the screen, then click on the Content tab.

Hi, I normally use F3 but aware of Ctrl-F and contents, could not make it work at all Here is what I get with Shell integration, I do not see your suggestion quote Go to Tools/Configuration (or press F9). In the left-hand column, go down to Other/Shell Integration. Check the box to use 64-bit iFilters for content search. My XYP is 2020 licence, using it for 3 years.

What version of XYPlorer are you using?
Also, if you go to Help / About XYplorer, does it say you have a Standard or Lifetime license?

rod222 , As far as I can tell, the only differences in the licenses is that Standard version comes with 1 year of upgrades, while the Lifetime lets you upgrade to the latest version for life. Your upgrade period with your current license has expired, so if you wanted to upgrade, you'd have to buy a new license. I don't see an option to upgrade the license, so you'd likely have to pay the full price for a lifetime license to get one. I've only been able to test with the latest version, since I just downloaded it as a trial to try to answer your question. But I was able to get it to work after changing the setting I mentioned above, which apparently isn't an option with your current version. This screenshot shows a folder with 6 PDFs. I searched for the word "Steamer", and it returned the two in the upper window, which is correct.
