I was looking to see who was online and I saw someone I read their posts like almost everyday. But the members list was last online sometime in October!! No that is not correct. Why does the members list not update every time a member signs on and reads or posts? Thanks Nick

nick2302Thanks for your post. Are you on the Home page when viewing the Forum Information & Statistics window? If you are, it should show you the latest info, and I note that there is no date listed, so not sure what you are seeing there. On the other hand, if you are in a specific board, i.e., not the Home page, it will only show you the statistics for that board. If you are still unsure, please post a screenshot of what you are seeing, and I will try to diagnose it for you.

I think I can answer your question, Nick. If a member selects “invisible” in the profile settings, the online times won’t appear to be accurate on the members list. This allows for privacy.

Thanks for your comment, Terri ( philatelia) Perhaps I misunderstood what Nick was describing. Of course, you are quite right that there is a privacy feature that allows members to be logged in but "invisible" to most users. If that is what Nick was talking about, then you are absolutely right. Thanks for commenting. I guess I need another cup of coffee before going any further today!

This is what I see in the members list philatelia philatelia Member 2,881 Jun 20, 2014 at 5:17am May 20, 2023 at 10:45am
So this tells me this user has selected the privacy mode? Must be most user do because some users I read all most every day have not been on in a very long time.
Yet if you select the username to send a message to, the system will tell you if the person is online here. Just sort of confusing to a newbie.

nick2302Thanks for the clarification. Now I understand what you are talking about: the Members list. Yes, I think this is correct. If a member chooses to use a privacy option when logged in to the Forum, the public list will not show that the member was online. But of course, you can still see any posts they made, with date-time stamps on them, so it's pretty obvious that the member was online. Is this somehow a problem? I think this is how the functionality of the Forum works. If you want to see if a certain member has made any recent posts, all you need to do is go to that member's public profile and click on "See this member's recent posts." Then you will see all of that member's posts. Does this help?

Sure it helps. Thank you. I just thought maybe I was caught in a time warp or I just didn't know what I was doing. (Happens a lot on TSF)!! Thanks for your support, I appreciate you. Nick
