Adding Text Overlays to Postage Stamp Images.
Hi all, Any recommendations ? advice ? Links? please. Win 10 and or Win 7 Technically challenged, so the easier to learn / use the better.
Creating a "Contact sheet" with sub text, services 99% of my images, however occasionally need to place text aboard the image (eg : Flyspecking etc)

Thanks for your post, Rod ( rod222) I use MS PowerPoint for doing text overlays and all sorts of other image manipulation or for creating composite images. You will find many examples of my work in the Cape Triangles thread. Hope this helps.

Rod,
If you don’t have PowerPoint, the LibreOffice suite of applications, which I seem to remember someone recommending to you on another thread somewhere, has an equivalent program included.

Irfanview allows you to add text, circles, arrows and the like.
It's all I've used for such work over the last 15 years, so if you recall some of my manipulations and think they're what you need, it's very easy, and "lightweight" as they say.
Also free.

Thank you all, shall try them, for suitability. For the record, I had Paint.net already aboard but loading images was clunky and the final txt, looked fuzzy.

Both also for Windows and shareware or freeware...

Do you have an IOS phone or tablet? On my iPad the standard photo edit comes with many options- no need to store another app - arrows, magnify, add text, all sorts of goodies.

My current preferred program is PaintShop Pro. You should choose something that adds text on a layer so underlying image is not permanently modified. Many of the simple photo edit programs do not support layers.
