Here's an closeup of a 1¢ Admiral coil (SC#131) on a post card I recently posted on another thread (War Tax). I notice that the perfs on the bottom seem to be glued onto the stamp. Looking at the stamp with my X10 loup, I can't see two layers of paper, but you can see a bit of glue along where a ridge of paper runs just below the stamp frame. Is this the end of a roll and the perfs had to be attached separately? I've never seen this before.

Perhaps residual gum and perfs from a stamp that was damp-stuck to the one shown?

Strange indeed. At first glance it looks like some sort of repair job. But it could very well be part of a paste-up pair that got separated for postal use. I have never seen that on cover/card before, nice find!

Wow, thanks for the info guys! I've never heard of a paste-up pair before. Let alone seen one on a cover/card. In fact, Steve, I was so taken with the pair shown on your ebay link, that I went and bought it! Now I'll have the pair and the spare. Much obliged all!

I don't have the slightest clue where it is so I can't scan it, but I do have a soaked apart postally used Canadian paste-up coil stamp that looks quite interesting (a 1c orange KGV, probably the arch issue). Imagine a coil stamp with selvedge on one end, that's what it looks like. The cancellation went over top of the middle of the paste-up pair, and when it was soaked the pair came apart. The selvedge therefore has no cancellation on it, since it was underneath the second stamp.

As I mentioned before, I went ahead and bought the paste up pair that Steve T. had linked to on this thread. Well Canada Post was working overtime this week, because they got here already. Here they are front and back, so we can see what we're talking about. Thanks for the link Steve. And I'll rename this thread to reflect the subject matter. Maybe someone is actually researching these.
