I am SO CLOSE to releasing my 2008 stamp pages for the US. From previous page designs I know exactly what size to make stamp boxes of MOST of the stamps I have. But there are always a few stamps that are just different, and I need to order them. I got most of what I needed except for one set of stamps that my local dealer did not have. So, I had to order those from eBay. SO, now I have to wait a week for those to come in.
I'm impatient.

What I collect: Germany in all its facets since 1871 (especially German Reich used including postal statinoneries, used), USSR, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Denmark, France. I design all album pages for my collection myself and partly make them available to the general public for use.

To determine the size of stamps from recent years that you do not yet know, I recommend (in addition to colnect) also taking a look at the UPU website, where a large number of UPU member countries regularly and completely present their new issues, including additional information (such as size). The 2008 issues of the USA are also listed there.

The 2008 issues of the USA are also listed there. I've used that in the past. But I want the size of the stamp in the mount. I can get the width dead on by just adding 5 mm to the width of the stamp. But the height can be off. If a stamp is 25 mm tall, sometimes it will fit in a 25 mm mount. Sometimes, it needs a 26 mm mount, depending on the thickness of the backing paper. Then you run into the problem where you really need a 27mm, but they don't make that, so you have to go with a 28 mm. A lot of this stuff is "best guess" for oddly sized stuff.
For example, in 2008, I got the size of the Charles + Ray Eames souvenir sheet from the US Postal Bulletin. I took a "best guess" which stamp mount it would fit into and made the page. When the sheet came in on Saturday, I found out I was really off. It may have been something as simple as the USPS listing the size in W×H and I assumed it was H×W. But stupidity on my part is always fixed by putting the stamp mount in the box and making sure it fits.

Interesting stuff - My stamp management program, page maker etc will give me a size for each stamp - what I do is add 1mm up and 1mm across which fits me right with stamp mounted. Easy - Thanks René
