If anyone is using Scribus for album pages, you might like to know that Scribus 1.6.1 is out. If you own a Mac, it's now Apple Silicon native.

What stalled my use of Scribus was the lack of any intelligent table creation. It had to be created cell by sell. Have they may any improvements in that area?

I don't know. I don't use tables, so I don't even know how to do tables in Scribus. I think you can create tables in LibreOffice and import them. That might make them easier.
Do other desktop publishing apps do tables better?

I went into Scribus and chose Insert→Table. It popped up a dialog and asked me for the number of rows and columns, and the dropped a table in with a bunch of cells. Is that more than it did before?

I have used it since 1.4 and I have 1.6.1 installed with no issues. Everything seems to be working just fine. I am on a Mac (not sure how different platforms may have issues), as to tables, I use Numbers (OSX) and use a screen short to convert to .png and then insert into Scribus. I have not built a table in Scribus, so any editing is back to the Numbers table
