I have a letter coming from Ireland. It has a Tracking Number and was sent by the Irish Post Office called An Post. When you look up the Tracking Number on the An Post website, there is a partial History but no delivery. The letter hasn't even left Ireland. It should be delivered to my address in Canada. What is going on with this letter? It was mailed on Oct 17 so I've been waiting almost 3 months with no movement since Oct 19. Here's a link to the An Post website www.anpost.com/Post-Parcels/Track/SearchThe Tracking Number is RL513083489IE Please tell me what's going on.

Perhaps this is stalled in customs? I’d contact the shipper.

It's been like pulling hen's teeth to get the shipper to do anything about this. She finally agreed to ask the Post Office to search for the letter and hopefully find out what's going on. What happens if the item is stuck in Customs? Do we just need to wait and it will be delivered? I just want to get it moving and it's been since Oct 17 that the letter was sent and there's no movement on the Tracking Number after Oct 19, 2023. Here's the tracking history:

The USPS is aware of the label but the item is not in their possession (I don't know if the website would indicate "waiting to receive from U.S. Customs). Given it has been almost 3 months, I would claim non-receipt and get a refund. Keep the shipper's contact info so you can pay for the item if it eventually shows up. If it was high value, the shipper should have insured it.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

The last tracking on October 19th suggests to me that the item has left Ireland and which would mean the problem is on the Canadian side. Admin I rather doubt it would pass through USPS since it is coming to Canada. jimjung if there is a monetary value it is best at this time to apply for a claim though anpost .

I spoke to the Canada Post and they said that if they have not received the item. They said it should state on the Tracking History that the connection between Ireland and either Customs or Canada Post was made. Since there is no mention on the Tracking History, it is still in Ireland. I'm unaware that I could apply for a claim thru An Post. I was told that the Shipper is the only one who can make contact to either Post Office concerning the package. That could be wrong though.

It is the shipper’s responsibility to see it delivered and to recompense you for the loss. They paid An Post for the tracking service and they are the ones who have the claim for non delivery not you .

I went on the An Post website and was able to find a form to request a search to be conducted for the package. They said it would take 30 days for the search. It sounds slow but it's something, I guess.

I am aware that the sender would have been responsible for starting the claim and I should have been more specific in my post.
