What I collect: European (and elsewhere) Definitives, Christmas Commemoratives
|
Post by mccloughlin on Jan 13, 2024 15:38:14 GMT
Hello Fellow Philatelists, I am a collector of stamps only, mainly specialising in European Definitives with a large collection of GB and Ireland defs.
In 1986, I started a project on GB Christmas Commemoratives, I have kept it going, so I have 1967 - 1989 complete, 1990 - 2000 a lacuna in the collection, the 2010s incomplete, and the 2020s complete. I'm working on the remaining years to bring it up to date. I had been trying to devise a system for the self-adhesive stamps - I use tar remover to lightly soften the glue enough to separate the paper, tunr over and remove the remaining glue.
I am currently cataloguing the whole collection from scratch and this is proving challenging as my experience is limited in the variants of the European definitives.
I also recently received my late father's modest collection into my possession, and it is being incorporated into my own, so plenty to do.
Best wishes, Thomas McCloughlin

Greetings, Thomas ( mccloughlin), and welcome to TSF! Many thanks for your nice introduction. Where in Ireland are you located, if you don't mind saying? I had the chance to visit Dublin and Killarney a couple of years ago while living in the UK (2019-2022), and I made to Belfast in Northern Ireland as well. Hope you will enjoy your time with us! -Chris Southern California, USA

Thank you all for your welcomes; they are much appreciated.
Beryllium Guy, I am a native of Northern Ireland (note: UK definitives variants etc) in County Fermanagh, but live in the midlands of Ireland in County Westmeath. I work in Dublin.
Have a nice evening/day (depending on where you are!)
