I have a number of Austrian stamps with numbers in the selvedge. What are they?

What I collect: currently focused on most of western Europe, much of which is spent on France, Belgium, Germany and Great Britain Queen Victoria

I do not collect any 'modern:" austria, so this is a guess:
If they are printed in 5 x something, then this may be a running tally of value for stamps purchase (each column being s15)
but only a guess

What I collect: Specialised UK and overprints, Ireland, Netherlands, Spanish permanent stamps.

Accounting aid.
These must have come from sheets of 50 stamp arranged in 5 rows of 10 stamps. First column: 5 x S3 = S15. Second column: S15 + 5 x S3 = S30. ... Ninth column: S120 + 5 x S3 = S135. Tenth column: S135 + 5 x S3 = S150.

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

I would have to dig through my Austrian specialized catalogues to be certain, but somewhere in the Michel specialized catalogues for Germany, a small bonus is added to the catalogue value for stamps with these selvedge markings.

Hi Tim, Aufrechnungzahlen (Ger.) Accounting numbers in margin of German Stamps My adoption: Marginal Markings : Accountancy So the Postal Clerk can (easily) tally value of current stock, (weekly ?) and so find sales amount, esp in part used stamp panes, sheets. "Collecting on the edge" link
