This air letter design and its postage indicium which includes a bunch of citrus placed ornamentally in the upper right corner of the vignette comes in several variations. If someone has access to the Higgins and Gage postal stationery catalog, can you please scan the pertinent catalog section. Or any other reference for that matter. I have 2 varieties with text in 3 lines and 4 I've seen a similar with different typesetting referred to as a provisional issue sent to only two post offices, as well as a printing (s) on light blue paper. The indicium design duplicates that of a postage stamp, with and without the portrait of KGVI. Thank you, Jeff

This 6-pence KGVI air letter uses the same design as the concurrent 6-pence adhesive. I will add this to my Oranges Philately project as the design includes a cluster of oranges in the upper-right corner.
Registered air letters (or aerogrammes) are not common as air letters were not supposed to have contents such as stamps, etc. Often registered air letters were intentional productions of collectors to produce an unusual item. The message typed therein concerns a past due account. While stamps are not specifically mentioned, it is apparently from a stamp dealer.
The added 3-pence adhesive pays the registration fee. Note the air letter was forwarded to a new address.
Mr. Wiki tells us this about L. Barrington Smith, "As a stamp dealer, Barrington Smith dealt principally in used British Commonwealth stamps, but the home-made and naive patriotic covers that he sold in bulk during the war years have become collectable in their own right. Barrington Smith traded from 1935 until about 1962, initially as a printer, soon becoming a stamp dealer and later a stamp wholesaler and supplier of "tropical novelties"
