Greetings from New England!
I am a historian and have been collecting postal history items since I was a teenager. I am most interested in pieces that reflect the drama of the times - from revolutions and wars to political and social change. I hope to make contributions to the Forum that may be of interest and I'm especially looking forward to learning from other members.

to TSF! Glad to have you with us. I certainly agree stamps can tell us much about the drama of the time and place they come from! Looking forward to your posts.

Delighted to have you join us! Would love to hear how you found us - in any case- we’re glad that you did! I think you might find this item of interest, an 1857 dear John letter in a cover addressed to Samuel P Benson, Winthrop Maine, who, according to Wikipedia had just retired from his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, Maine’s 4th district. thestampforum.boards.net/post/176831/thread
