As many of you know, I’m very fond of old covers, hence my forum signature “Some women buy designer shoes, but I prefer to buy classic covers - they never go out of style!” Lol! I recently purchased this unusual cover. It is the first Finland bisect in my collection and I’ve never seen another like this. From what I’ve been able to figure out, this letter was posted the day before Hangö or Hanko was turned over to Russia as per a Peace Treaty on March 12, 1940. See this wiki article; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_Peace_TreatyI somewhat doubt that this is a philatelic cover because I’m pretty sure the people there had other things on their mind that day than creating unusual stamped covers. So could this be a legitimate bisect usage due to pressing need or circumstances? Any thoughts? “Sista Posten Från Hangö” translates as “Last Post from Hangö”.
