Halloween is my favorite holiday and always has been. I'm also a MUMMER so that should tell you a little bit about my love for costumes eh? I always enjoyed those issues. In fact the Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania postmaster gave me a metal stamp jacket pin of SC#3170 (Boris Karloff in Frankenstein. I have never opened it. He gave me the Lewis & Clark SC #3854 one also.

Happy Halloween, if you and your kids / children are partying, I hope you have an enjoyable evening...PS Has anyone ever come across any stamps or covers on the theme of Halloween? Here is the first one that came to my mind. From the Commemorative set of 1974 - The Legend of Sleepy Hollow A quote from Mystic's Heirloom album:

I have received a Halloween stamp from France in kiloware before. I don't have any copies that can be easily found now, here's an image I nabbed from the internet. Ryan

That Legend of Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite stamps. It's beautiful and one I love to run my fingertips over. ;D
Great blog post, too, Jim!

It's beautiful and one I love to run my fingertips over. ;D Once upon a time I was trying to impress a girlfriend with my stamp collection (this has seldom succeeded). I was showing her some engraved favourites and she said "oooh, it feels like money!" ha ha Ryan

I'm slowly recovering from Halloween. I make the girls' costumes each year, and this year was a big one - literally. Not so much for the little mermaid, but the minion turned out to be much more complicated than we had expected! Anyway, this is what kept me so quiet around TSF last week:

Those look great...next year you should try to make costumes with a stamp or postal history theme.

Inverted Jennybug? All the blood will go to her head ...
I can see it now - "What are you supposed to be?" "I'm a treskilling yellow!"
