I found this forum while looking for inspiration on how to present my collection, it’s currently sat in several boxes full of stock cards and beat up folders. I found a thread here on custom album pages and thought I’d stick around and hopefully join in!
I’m based in the UK and returned to collecting after 25 years. I never quite escaped the hobby and I would pick up stamps as souvenirs on my travels. But while clearing my late grandfathers house I rediscovered my childhood album which reignited my interest fully. I was determined to keep my renewed focus on aviation stamps, but my collection has spread like oil on water. Aircraft led me into Soviet Union and Chinese stamps and my fascination of communist countries took over and from there the completionist in me ruled!
I was adamant that covers wouldn’t form part of my collection, but my childhood spent at IWM Duxford with Russavia’s Dragon Rapide has formed into an interest in 1930’s UK airmail, between that and my fascination with zeppelins, some covers have crept into my stash.
So there it is, from 1860’s Imperial Russia, 1930’s world airmail, to grinning like a moron when I picked up Thailand’s 2017 Hello Kitty stamps last year, I really don’t care if it’s considered a ‘basic’ or 'common' collection, if I like it I’ll add it.
