This little bisect is the first I’ve ever seen. It just arrived today and is on piece, trimmed from a picture postcard. Probably there was a need for a postcard rate so this 2p green was bisected. According to Uwe Netzsch’s “Irish Slogan Cancels” (see pic below) this cancel was in use at approximately the same time as the Irish civil war which adds credence to my theory that this usage was simply due to a shortage of other denominations. Has anyone seen other examples?

rod222 you’re a gem! How did you manage to locate that elusive item in a 60 year old club newsletter? Wow - impressive! I would love to see other examples of Irish bisects. Time to write the Eire Philatelic Association.

Time to write the Eire Philatelic Association. philateliaHi Terri, if you do correspond, please let us know the outcome I find both parties get great joy from such enquiries. Locate an elusive item? 1. Save all the club bulletins in your particular discipline 2. Have a colleague like "PostmasterGS" who takes those bulletins and OCR them for you free ! (Huge admiration there) Voila! To find your bisects I went through perhaps 10 bulletins, in a couple of minutes Local clubs have so much fabulous information hidden away (apart from Ireland...New Zealand comes to mind) They are treasure troves.
