Hi, my name is Gary. I’m 68 years old and live near Salisbury in the UK. My collecting interests are UK Machin stamps, which I collect to Deegam level 3.
I started collecting stamps and coins as a child, encouraged by my father. In those days I collected stamps from any country but in my teens I decided just to collect UK stamps. My interest lapsed in my mid 30s due to work and family commitments. I had a great career in IT that took me to many countries around the world. About ten years ago I had the opportunity to take early retirement, and this gave me the time to return to stamp collecting. I had, and still have, a lot of catching up to do. I am now building my Machin collection and enjoy visiting stamp fairs and buying stamps online. I’m also fortunate to live near one of the few remaining collectors shops in the UK, Dauwalder’s.
I’m looking forward to learning more on this forum from other Machin collectors, and contributing any relevant knowledge I have.
