More cheerfully, this was irresistible. These can be the most decorative of the era. Registered cover from Stockholm to a sea captain in Gävle, courtesy of a forwarder, the ship owners maybe.
425 and 4 look like registration numbers, Stockholm sending and Gävle receiving, maybe. The normal letter rate was 12 öre. I'm guessing 24 öre for double weight (just the weight of the seals on the back ensured that), and 23 öre for the registered fee. But I'm just guessing; need to check all that.  |
