I don't believe the forum has a thead where we can discuss and/or post images of the travesties which often occur while moving the mail. Specifically, I'm refering to such things as attacks on stamps by marker monkeys, missed cancelling opportunities, and the vast array of damage to mail pieces that occurs during transit. Let me begin with a piece that I received yesterday from Sioux Falls, South Dakota (from/to addresses have been digitally removed). It is apparent that the spray-on cancellation was sufficiently large to obliterate each of the 7 stamps placed on the cover. Why the processing machine didn't properly orient the piece is a mystery.

I received these from Hackettstown, New Jersey 07840; they arrived several days apart in December 2010. The handiwork appears to be that of the same marker monkey.

Of all the post offices in the United States, one would think that the one at the American Philatelic Society in Belfont, Pennsylvania would be most likely to cancel all of the stamps on the envelope.
