Hello, Everyone-
My name is Edward Harris and I live near London Heathrow Airport. I have been collecting stamps since 1944 with varying degrees of enthusiasm and intensity. As you will realize, I'm not in the first flush of youth (another of my interests is trying to remain alive).
For many years I collected the World stamps 1840-1936 without any specialization, but about 15 years ago decided to concentrate on France from pre-stamp until 1944 in some detail and in many aspects, France as a choice having been arrived at merely by Serendipity. Examples would be of small collections such as the Exposition of 1900 and advertising material from carnets which has gone through the post, the 1920's Pasteur issue and bureaux de passe marks.
My main collection is of Sage stamps post-marked Paris and is large and reasonably comprehensive, but there is no aspect of collecting which I will not seize upon to collect, although I have to say that financing it these days is a problem. The main problem though is, I suppose, that of dealing with the amount of material one has amassed though over-enthusiasm, collector's itch I call it. I do have the advantage of acquaintance with a very knowledgeable French dealer who is extremely helpful whenever I have a problem.
I decided not to sell my collection of British India and the Princely States when I specialized in France, but this is more an amalgamation than a serious collection, retained more for personal than philatelic reasons.

Welcome to the forum! I am a pretty new member myself who also mostly specializes in France. I also happen to have a large collection of Sage stamps postmarked Paris. What a coincidence!
