My Father was in Europe during WW ll, from Normandy to Germany, and into Czechoslovakia, following Patton's 4th Armored Division in his 6x6 supply truck, and trailer, with all the parts for a Jeep except the frame. He had a little more room at his disposal than the infantry did, and he sent, and brought, home, guns, cameras, coins, and stamps.
When I started collecting stamps, Dad had a box of loose stamps to pull from, and there were sheets of Hitler stamps, but alas, they are long gone, traded off for other stamps in elementary and junior high school.
I have heard that Hitler stamps are nearly worthless because of the number of Hitler stamps that were "liberated" by the GI's. I just happened to come across a Littleton Stamp Company "Free" packet of mint Bohemia/Moravia Hitler stamps that were given out to entice customers to buy from Littleton.
Did any other Stamp Forum members fathers send, or bring, home stamps from Europe, or other theaters of war?

My father lost stamps when "Sonneberg" was briefly occupied by Americans after the war. I have forgiven it.

When I was a kid and started collecting back in the early 70's, I thought that any Hitler stamps were banned and illegal to possess. I was a pretty smart kid usually, but I had my naïve moments, I guess. Now I have a number of them and they don't seem to be such a big deal.
