As long as we have some stamps to sort or something to study, we’re a happy bunch, aren’t we? I never complain about being bored stuck at home with health problems - not with stamps and other hobbies. If anything, there aren’t enough hours in the day. How do folks manage retirement without immersive, mentally stimulating hobbies?

How do folks manage retirement without immersive, mentally stimulating hobbies? Amen to that ! When friends call, and say "What ya doin?" then retort themselves "Don't tell me, you're stamping" Still have not unpacked some stamps purchased 10 years ago, when the Aussie dollar was on par with the greenback, Gee wasn't that nice. Has taken me to genealogy, and my last route, awaiting testing my DNA, see if I am of an original Briton, or a danged Anglo Saxon.

Definitely not enough hours in the day. Which is why I don't sleep enough !! I can't say I ever recall being bored with stamps being such an exciting hobby. Lately my hobby and retirement days have been taken over by a little one-year-old so there is even less time. Maybe I should just sleep less ??

rod222 said; Imagine this - DNA shows we are part Viking. I always wondered where that “son” at the end of our family name came from and how short, red-headed me ended up with a tall, blond sister! No wonder Scandinavian stamps are so appealing to me - like calls to like, eh?

I'm still working and can tell my wife: "Darling, I need to rest. The best way to do that is with my stamps." Oh my God, what am I supposed to do when I retire.

Having been retired for three years, I live in a van down by the river. My diet is government surplus cheese.🧀😄
Stamp collecting is a pleasurable hobby. I like studying them, reading posts and communicating with you all about the subject matter.😎

I’m never bored with stamps I even get a little disappointed when there’s so much going on that there’s no time for stamps. My husband collects coins and he sometimes wanders around the house bored. I think he needs a second hobby but stamps just don’t interest him. 😕

Still have not unpacked some stamps purchased 10 years ago Boy, did that strike a chord. My home club's Spring Sale and Show is coming up in a few weeks and I realized today I still haven't unpacked, yet alone curated, most of the stamps I got at the Fall Show (or at many of the club bourses and auctions in the months since). Bored? No time. That's actualy the problem. Instead of dealing with an increasing accumulation of German States or whatnot, I get sidetracked with researching, reading about, or just playing with the latest 'fun' purchase that arrived in the mail. I just realized that I also need to spend some time updating want lists so I don't buy the same stamp twice (happens too often).

I don't get bored, but I often get directionless. My albums morph into clutter. Many, many works in process, but I can't remember the process.
But then there are books to read, forums to peruse, videos to watch. So I'm not bored. 🙂
Ps - I sure do seem to buy the same stamps over and over again too. 😂

It is a peaceful Saturday morning and I just finished mounting a ton of Austria I won from Philatelia's auctions. Now I can dig in the box f stamps I have waiting on me to get around to. Nothing like a relaxing morning with nothing scheduled. Cannot beat that feeling. Being retired as been made totally NOT boring as I have so many beautiful stamps to add to my collection.
After joining here I amazed at how many people collect stamps. It is a wonderful hobby for those growing older as it keeps the brain awake.Just happy to be a part of such a great group of people like those here on this Forum.
Happy collecting y'all. Nick
