I have a USA collection that I need a value on. The stamps are on older homemade pages in two old springback albums. I don't think they're worth much but they must have some value. The collector bought Mint stamps but removed the gun before hinging them in these album pages. So all the stamps are unused until 1966 where a few of them are used. Then mint (without gum) with a few used from 1966-1992. There are some Airmail (1947-90) at the end of the 2nd album and these are similar Mint with no gum with a few used in the higher years. How much would I get for these? Rough estimate or range.  |

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

You will probably not like my answer jimjung but earlier this year I had a US collection with pages to 1989 that was used. I listed it on Facebook Marketplace for 25.00 and felt lucky to find a buyer. |

Sorry to be picky , but “ mint “ means as it came from the issuer. Ie with “gum” …….we should use it for completely pristine fresh. However usage allows some slippage into. “mint never hinged” and “hinged mint “ with a big differential in price between the two . The third category is “UNUSED” without gum and that is further degraded It can’t be mint if the gum has gone. I go closer to Hugh’s price realisation than JeffS. “10%”. The stamps are common, in plentiful supply , Hinged mint or MNH. |

To be honest unused, no gum, no cancel? That’s a tough sell. They aren’t good postage as you’d have to glue them all which is a lot of sticky work. Exceptions might be line pairs, precancels, high face values, plate number coils

Ok. Thanks. I'll try to list it for cheap and se if anyone goes for it. Postage might be expansive if I sell with the albums just from the weight. Do you think anyone would want the albums>? They are old 8 1/2 x 10 springback.

Actually, I might add it to a box of stuff that I will send to the Auctionhouse. They can sell it as part of a Worldwide Lot. That’s what I have been doing with similar period GB collections ……I include such albums in a job lot with 1970s FDC from the UK which are so plentiful on the market and accept whatever I can from the local Auction house. The work involved in handling myself is just not worth the hassle. |

I see many of these stamps used as postage. unfortunately most post WWII US stamps don't have much value (I have plenty if you need 'spares'....)

You get some nuisance replies and low ball offers but over all I have been happy with the end results. I only offer them as curb side pick up so I do not have strangers entering my condo. This way there is no shipping and you can set it up as cash only.

FB Marketplace sounds like an idea to try. I have many empty albums, stock book and album pages for odd countries. It would really help in decluttering this mess.

I have only ever used FB Marketplace for selling household items, but perhaps for heavier, modest value stamp materials, like old catalogues, albums, blank pages, etc., it may well be worth a go. I think I will put a carton of stuff together and see if anyone will take it off my hands. Thanks for the advice, Hugh ( hdm1950) and Terri ( philatelia), good luck with yours, jimjung!  |
