New member introduction

Hi I recently signed up to the stamp forum after years of looking at posts and being amazed at the wealth of knowledge some collectors have on here. I’m a retired mainly tax field related CPA having started collecting as a young boy inspired by my grandfather who was postmaster in a small very rural and cold I might add town in upstate Maine.

I collect mainly U.S. and Canada origin postal goods perhaps because of my heritage with my mother still being a Canadian citizen despite living here for roughly 75 years and my father being born in upstate Maine before moving to Connecticut for work related reasons. I’ve found myself drawn more toward “oddball” type collecting as I’ve aged including errors and freak stamps and have an old postal machine collection which I like.

I am a member of the New Haven Connecticut philatelic club and am also a member of the American Philatelic Society. I have resided in Central Connecticut my entire life and am now trying to get my grandson who is seven interested in the hobby. I’ve had some luck there so far so there’s hope I don’t have to dump what I’ve collected!
