What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

A few more proofs to add to my collection. The first on the left is a P4 in black on card stock. The one in the centre is a 12TC black on India paper. The block of 4 consists of two varieties of the specimen overprint on card stock. The Unitrade numbers of these would be P13i and P13ii .

When I am home and back into stamping, I will post my summer purchases.

hdm1950 What is a P4 described as please? Is it a normal proof or one of the 1890 reprints? I don't have a Unitrade catalogue.

hdm1950 What is a P4 described as please? Is it a normal proof or one of the 1890 reprints? I don't have a Unitrade catalogue. It was described by Vance Auctions as 'P4, Proof in black on card VF' with a catalogue value of 400.00. I bought it as such well below the CV. It is not even listed in my 2000 Unitrade. I have a 2024 catalogue on order. I took a chance based on my trust in the source. It is probably not wise but I have flown into the Nova Scotia proof and trial colour world a bit blind.

Thanks, but just realised it can't be a 1890 reprint as that was in dark green. Nice proof!

Another new arrival is this trial colour proof block of four. The Unitrade number for the orange colour is 9TCi. Thanks rod222 for the information on how New South Wales ended up using the same stamp image as the Nova Scotia one, two and five cent Queen Victoria 1860-63 issues.

My Nova Scotia proof and trial colours collection continues to grow with the arrival of this Unitrade 10TCviii. Black is a trial colour and the green SPECIMEN is rather rare.

A new favourite is this very fine die proof 8P. It measures 33mm X 36mm.

Giving this newly created thread a bump so that members using the Recent Threads function will see it. Thanks to Hugh ( hdm1950) for suggesting the idea of creating this out of posts in the Nova Scotia: Stamps thread. Hugh, please have a look through the old thread, and if I missed any that should be moved over, please let me know. Stay Nova Scotia Proof stampy, all!

These two blocks arrived recently. Both are on card stock. The 5 cents ones are a trial colour black Unitrade 10TCii & 10TCiii. The top two have specimen type B and the bottom 2 are type C. The 12 1/2 cents block is a black proof Unitrade 13P.
