I am slowly come to the conclusion it is not worth the time and effort soaking a stamp off envelopes and etc. as opposed to just neatly trimming them and then mounting the stamp in the album. Today I opened quite a few envelops from various collectors and the only stamps I soaked were the ones I wanted for my albums and they had sufficient space so that I was able to cut around them without damaging the perfs. The few I had to soak were enough trouble as it was.
As a suggestion, I would say to all stamp collectors who mail to other collectors, space the stamps so that if the intended recipient wanted to keep the stamp leave enough room from the edge of the envelope or if multiple stamps space them so they could be clipped off without damaging them.
Just a thought from a long-time soaker and now converted clipper of stamps.
