I was putting some stuff on ebay tonight and included this in a grouping of early Spanish kings. Luckily I decided to look it up before listing it. This is what Scott's writes about this 'stamp'. "Six stamps picturing King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia were put on sale Oct. 1 1907 at the Madrid Industrial Exhibition. They were not valid for postage." That means they are cinderellas, and not this one will reside in my cindy collection. It pays to look things up!

What I collect: Cinderellas and some Ephemera from Great Britain, France and Israel plus a few beautiful bits from elsewhere !! Topical interests include Flags & Judaica, the latter with an emphasis on the Jewish National Fund.

I believe Scott's erred slightly because the set should be 7. Two very distinctive 4 Peseta values from different print runs were produced. The Deep Brown [almost Sepia] and Chestnut labels are very different and should be seen as 'two'. If you look around for the set, it is often found with both shades [but not always]. Londonbus1

1907 Madrid Industrial Exhibition
James, I have a full set (less the deep brown) in duplicate. email me a suitable address, and I'll forward these over to you. I have your address on a package you sent, but it is packed away in the "to do" which is nearing the ceiling.

A quick Nod to Rod! Your package arrived today from the land down under, with the rest of the Madrid set (minus the extra 4pta deep brown, but that just means the hunt continues!). Also a nice little stash of Belgium. Not part of my collecting sphere, but they now live in my 'Just Because' album, and may someday be expanded on. Does it NEVER end? (i hope not)
Many thanks Rod. Merry Christmas to you too.
