I was wondering if any of you able to get the new flag stamp booklets that were issued June 14th? I have been trying to get them around here and all the post offices say they don’t have them. After going back to 4 different post offices a couple of times I asked them why they don’t have them being’s they were issued June 14th. The post office I asked said they are not selling them until after the postage rate increase. I was wondering if it’s just my area or is this a new thing the USPS is doing? Carabop

Why wouldn’t they sell them after the price hike? Makes no sense. My little country post office has them. I was in there on the 12th getting the sea turtles and carnivals. The clerk told me she had them in the back but couldn’t sell them yet. I’ve since gone back for the horses and shaker design. She asked if I wanted the flags, but I told her no. I figured I could get them any time.

I don’t know why the post offices here will not sell them until after the rate hike. Maybe being they are sold more than sheets of stamps they will get more money waiting until the price increase. This is the only reason I can think of but they shouldn’t be able to do that in my opinion. But every post office does not carry every stamp so I suppose they can do as they wish.

The best source for recent USA is the philatelic “cave” in Kansas City. They offer products that are not available in the online United States Postal Service store or in most of the post offices. You used to be able to request a hard copy, but I can’t find that on their website. You can read the online version here. You get the item number from the catalog and phone in your order. www.usps.com/stamp-collecting/assets/pdf/usa_philatelic_catalog.pdfUsing the online catalog is annoying - you have to scroll to the end of the catalog to find the item numbers! I recommend calling in your order and then request a hard copy of the magazine at that time. IMHO, Their website is definitely not designed with philatelists in mind! They show two different new coil booklets, but only offer ONE online and it doesn’t specify which type. Calling in your order is your only option here.

Yes I will have to order the stamps I need by paying the extra for shipping & handling or paying more with the postage rate hike. It just puzzles me that they can hold on to these stamps to sell after the price increase even though they were issued June 14th I just don’t think it’s right. Getting down off my soapbox now.

So true! They used to offer free shipping but now they charge a dollar or two.
