I just received my first U.S. private perfin stamp. It has RJR initials, and they stand for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Reference: Philatelic Geography site. The stamp without perfin is Scott: E14 SD7. For the front of the stamp, I used white paper as background so that the initials would show up better.
Having two sets of initials on this stamp, I wonder if their punch machine was type-set for two small stamps.
