I notice that we have "Joint Issue' postings here and there all over the forum. How about a thread were we can post joint issues from anywhere? ... I'll start with a 'here and there' one ... the 1999 joint issue of Ireland and the USA about Irish Immigration as a result of the Potato Famine (1845-1851). More than one million people died in Ireland as a result of the famine and more than two million left the country. In a short period of time, the population of Ireland was reduced by 20-25%. Stamps:Ireland - Irish Immigration 45p Issued - February 26, 1999 Sc 1168 USA - Irish Immigration 33c Issued - February 26, 1999 Sc 3286

A joint issue between Canada and Guernsey ... why? Issac Brock is a celebrated figure in Canadian history, known as the 'Hero of Upper Canada' for his actions during the War of 1812. He died at the Battle of Queenstown Heights. He was born at St. Peter Port on the Isle of Guernsey. Tecumsah was a Shawnee Chief and warrior and leader of a Native American Confederacy. He promoted resistance to the expansion of the US into Native American lands in his Ohio Country homeland. During the War of 1812, he joined his cause with the British. He died at the Battle of the Thames, in Upper Canada, in 1813. Stamps:Canada - War of 1812 + tabs Issued on June 15, 2012 Major General Sir Issac Brock (1769-1812) Sc. 2554 Tecumsah (1768-1813) Sc. 2555
Guernsey - War of 1812 Issued on June 15, 2012 1 GBP Major General Sir Issac Brock (1769-1812) Sc. 1172a Tecumsah (1768-1813) Sc. 1172b

An excellent idea for a thread! I'll try to contribute a few. To start, this joint issued between Monaco and the French Southern and Antarctic Territories from 2022, two souvenir sheets remembering Prince Albert I 's sponsorship of the 2 nd Charcot expedition to the Antarctic :

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

These are the 1975 joint issues for the Apollo Soyuz space test project that involved Russia-American cooperation. Launch took place on July 15 with the link up happening in July 17th. The US stamp Scott numbers are 1569-70 and the Russia numbers are 4339-40. There was cooperation on the stamp design as well with 1569/4339 being designed my Robert McCall and 1570/4340 being designed Anatoly M. Aksamit of the USSR.

JOINT ISSUES : DEFINITIONS For the most recent discussion about definitions, see also the proposal for the New classification system Joint issues (emissions conjointes - Gemeinschaftsausgaben / Freundschaftsausgaben) are stamps released by two or more countries on the occasion of a common event or anniversary and that are characterized either by a common design or the same date of issue. Cases where the issue date is the same but the design different, are refered to as parallel joint issues (emission parallèle). On the contrary, when the design is identical, but the lag in issuing the stamps is greater than 3 days the issue is termed a concerted joint issue (emission concertée). In case of doubt, the proof that both postal administrations intended to work together must be provided (e.g. same design but difference in date of issue too large, or, almost same date, same event, but different design and no mention on the stamps about the cooperation) Twin issues (emissions jumelees - Zwillingsausgaben) are special cases of joint issues where design and issue date are identical for all the countries involved. When a large number of stamps are issued by a large number of countries (omnibus twin or joint series), those are taken in account only if these stamps are provided by different stamp printers (e.g. Europa CEPT or Norden twin issues are taken in account, but not Commonwealth small countries or islands omnibus series) Siamese issues (emissions siamoises - Siamesische Ausgaben) are a special case of twin issues where the stamps of the two issuing countries are printed se-tenant. In extreme cases we have unique issues (emissions uniques - Einzelausgaben) for which only a single stamp bearing the names of all the countries involved is printed, a case which is very seldom. When issuing countries are only dependencies or colonies of the main issuing country, issues cannot be considered as true joint issues and are therefore identified as territorial or colonial joint or twin issues (emissions conjointes territoriales ou coloniales - lokale oder koloniale Gemeinschaftsausgaben). Territorial or colonial joint issues can of course be parallel or concerted issues. When the event is common, but design and issuing date are different, the issue is termed a common issues (emissions communes - gemeinsame Ausgaben). These stamps are usually not reported because they are out of the scope of the studies and the catalogue (absence of cooperation between postal administrations). Sometimes stamps from one country appear to announce a joint issue from another country but in reality this second stamp is never released. This would be a unilateral issues (emissions unilaterales - einseitige Ausgabe). Normally these stamps are not listed here, except in some rare cases when a stamp was under preparation but was never issued for political or technical reasons (aborted joint issue - emission conjointe avortee - gescheiterte Gemeinschaftsausgabe). Abbreviations BF (Bloc-feuillet - French) or Bl (Block - German): Souvenir sheet or miniature sheet. DBZ: Deutsche Briefmarken Zeitung - German philatelic newspaper - more details under www.d-b-z.de ETB: (Ersttagblatt - German), document with a first day cancellation and issued by the German post office. FDC: (First day cover), document with a first day cancellation, not necessarily the one with the special illustration. MiR: Michel Rundschau - German philatelic newspaper - more details under www.michel.de or www.briefmarken.de

dgdecker Hi David, you're welcome. Not sure where I got the info from, possibly here........... (The definitions may have been updated by now) Cheers
I would be remiss, in not tipping my chapeau, to the late Mr. Ralph Ambrose (Plant City Florida) "Ralphael" introduced me to Joint Issues (That was his "thing") A great fellow, and friend, always had a smile and a welcome.

Since rod222's definition of joint issues cites the Norden issues explicitly, let's show my favourite one, for which my holdings are unfortunately incomplete, the 1973 set, from Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark, showing the Norden Haus in Reykjavik illuminated by some Northern lights: As you can see, I am missing the higher denomination Norwegian stamp, as well as the Swedish ones Maybe some other TSF member can complete the picture?
