Hi HughDoes anyone have any other information or insights about these two stamps?Personal opinion my contribution prior, was from Joint Issue society, where rules, naturally are prescribed as a guide to their own parameters. An individual collector, may bend the rules to suit his/her own collection. I can happily sit on the fence, either way with these two.

Now that I'm back, I can resume posting some joint issues (still have a few to go...). In 1960, the UNHCR obtained from a large number of the UN Member states to issue stamps related to the World Refugee Year that had been declared then. The symbol for that common issue is usually a stylized tree, and there are many variants, but I am not showing these here. I'll stick to one design that was common for four postal administrations: the two United Arab Republic components (Egypt and Syria) and the Palestine mandate, as well as Yemen. It is a damning indictment of humanity that, nearly 65 years on, the problem pointed out by these stamps has only gotten worse, not better...

Another worldwide common issue, in 1962, was sponsored by the World Health Organization on the theme of "The World United against Malaria". The shared design element was a mosquito and a stylized globe. Here I show the joint design used by many of the former (or still then current) French African colonial territories:

Six more joint issue stamps from Israel, for which I do not have the partner country stamps, but maybe some TSF members can fill the gaps... - Israel-Bulgaria, on bird migration, from 2016 - Israel-Portugal, on dolphin research and 40 years of friendship, from 2017 - Israel-Cyprus, on aerial firefighting, from 2023 - Israel-Greece, on the ports of Haïfa and Thessaloniki, from 2016 - Israel-Thailand, on 60 years of friendship, from 2014 - Israel-Philippines, remembering their rescue of Jews from the Holocaust, from 2015

Three stamps (from Dahomey, Gabon, and Mauritania) from the 1962 joint issue across francophone Africa for the first anniversary of the foundation of the African and Malagasy Union Organization (now the African Union): Nine other countries participated in this issue: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo (Brazzaville), Côte d'Ivoire, Upper Volta, Madagascar, Niger, Sénégal, and Chad, but, to my great dismay, I do not yet have these stamps in my collection. Definitely near the top of my wish list!

The following are listed by Yvert&Tellier as part of the same joint issue, the World United against Hunger, in 1963, but one can see the African independent nations went for one design whilst the French territories went for another: Shown are issues from Cameroon, the Comoro Islands, Congo (Brazzaville), Dahomey, Gabon, Upper Volta, New Caledonia, New Hebrides (only one of two issues), and Sénégal. Missing from the set: Central African Republic, Côte d'Ivoire, Madagascar, Mali (2 stamps), Mauritania, Niger, and Chad.
