Côte d'Ivoire, YT#141 and 141a (with and without the country's name), part of the colonial series issued in 1939 to commemorate René Caillié, African explorer.

Postal strike stamp from the Amiens Chamber of Commerce, from 1909 (France Michel #124K). Normal stamp on the right, and missing the "C." on the left one.

French India, air mail issue from 1948 (YT #PA17). This stamp could not be sold in order to avoid a diplomatic incident because the Temple of Chindambaram it shows was actually outside French Territory, in mainland India.

A rather unfortunate perforation error on this Swedish Flag Day Label from 1960, 'Dancers in Traditional Costume'. At least the dancers are still together even if the Flag has been ripped apart !!!

I showed some French parcel post stamps with their value missing in thestampforum.boards.net/post/63389/thread as they showed the train crossing a viaduct, so could belong on the Bridges on Stamps thread. But here is the rest of the "missing value" series: On the top left, we have the other two stamps of the same series as the viaduct ones, with the value missing (YT #CP177A-178A, 1941), then the normal issue with thin numerals (YT #CP177-178) and with thick numerals (YT #CP187-188, issued in 1942-43). On the top right corner, issue #CP182 (no value indicated) and #CP215 (with red 3F9 value). Another oddity is that these stamps were often with a price which omitted the last cents digit, so 3F9 stands for 3F90. The bottom stamps are examples of the taller format, again with the value missing (YT #CP174-76) and another with the value included (3F0: #CP208 [1943], 3F90: #CP184, and 4F20: #CP185 [both 1941]). There are also watermark variants, as the larger stamps were normally issued with a watermark (showing, of course, another train) but can also be found with no watermark. But that won't show in a scan!

A couple of inverted overprints from Martinique (YT #105c and 106a, from 1924) and some of the originals with no overprints (YT #62 and 67, from 1908-18).

A colour error from the London Series [printed in 1941] for French Equatorial Africa (the normal colour is the yellow-bistre, while the error colour is the carmine). YT #152 and 152a.

From the French colonial series issued for the Paris 1931 International Colonial Exhibition, missing the country name. Catalogued as Cameroon YT#151a and 152a (because it's the first of the colonies for which the stamp was issued in alphabetical order). Unfortunately, I own none of the original series (even in any of the other issuing colonies), so I cannot show a comparison to normal. The country name should fit in the bottom cartouche for the 90c and in the top right corner (where the background whitens) for the 1F50 issue.

I was going to post my own copies of the Cambodia Sihanoukville Harbour issue (YT#84-86 & 84A-85A, from 1960), but I saw that salentin has already posted them as thestampforum.boards.net/post/61147/thread in the Ship on Stamps thread. The error is the value in the khmer script reads as 20 riels, so does not match the value in Arabic numerals.

Another London Series error, this time in the Réunion issue, where the stamp on the bottom has the background blue colour missing. YT #242 and 242a.
I've also cross-posted another error at thestampforum.boards.net/post/63401/thread since it is an Airmail issue featuring an aircraft.

I have a Luxembourg official stamp with the exact same "scroll work" in the right margin. Looks very nice, and must have been printed by the same company.

I'm not sure what this is, but it came with a bunch of German stamps. It's hard to read with the double imprint, but the letters at the bottom look Cyrillic. Holy Cannolli, I just figured out what this thing is! It's a DP stamp! I have more, without the double imprint, and (synchronicity here) when nl1947 posted a Ukrainian catalog and I asked if it had dp stamps in it, and BAMMM! Hunting for an image (or one of the others to scan), will post imminently!

Got it! Image courtesy (unknowingly) some international eBayer… www.ebay.ie/itm/Field-Post-Camp-Postage-Stamps-Ukraine-Mint-F8477-/142826640065?hash=item21412192c1
Now, ummm… does anyone know a catalog for ANY of these things? Apparently, when the Allies were sorting out post-war Germany they set up a bunch of internment camps for all the non-Germans released from the labor camps, and they made their own postage stamps. (There were a LOT of these DPs - our next door neighbor was in a camp with several thousand others, and there were many of these camps - I'm guessing he gave the stamps to my father? Or maybe my father spent time in or near one). Either way, I have these things, and I have no idea how or where to fit it in my collection. My father apparently thought they should go with Germany.

President Fulbert Youlou of Congo, already seen in thestampforum.boards.net/post/63335/thread, makes another appearance with this issue commemorating the Brazzaville City Hall (YT #PA11, from 1963). This time, the stamp had to be pulled out because Youlou was ousted in disgrace just as the stamp was being issued, and thus having his medallion in the corner had become politically untenable.

Now this one is a trifecta for me. An issue from Cameroon, one of my top countries since I spent several formative years there. The issue theme is Expo 67, in my home town of Montréal and where my parents fell in love. The stamp on the right also has an overprint for the first moon landing, connecting to my "Science on Stamps" theme as well. But in this case the overprint is inverted. There is no mention of an inverted overprint issue in my Yvert&Tellier Former French Colonies catalog, so I wonder how authentic it is. But no matter since it checks so many boxes! Original issue with no overprint: YT# PA105 [1967]. With normal overprint: YT# PA154C [1969].

Wait a second... that's not a stamp error! That's a national error in judgment!
Oh. The thread is Errors... and Oddities.
I'm not sure errors of judgment are all that odd, but now I want a copy of that stamp because it's a GREAT story behind it! :-)

The Stamp that Gibbons on the Strand offered me £10 for !! 1983 SG#1231a but as a single not a pair. (Imperfs are always priced as pairs by Gibbons). I handled this stamp for a friend and just walked into Gibbons, more as an experiment than anything else. After consulting with a higher authority (maybe the cleaner) the young counter clerk came back with the offer. He didn't even know what the stamp was, most likely a student. I never trusted Gibbons after that but it was only a bit of fun. Anyway it came from a sheet that got tangled at the perforation stage. 13 Imperf stamps were saved (I wish I could say destroyed as is the law, but even Printers are out to make money). A further 8 copies were partly damaged but most, if not all, are on the marketplace. The stamp was found 'hidden' behind a Machin Block in a collection I was helping a friend to value and sell. Well, it will soon be Christmas, right ? Londonbus1........Jingle bells..

Not an error but definitely most odd !! From 2010, 'Festival of Stamps', Royal Mail issued Souvenir sheets and also offered them in a Press Sheet. The sheets in the latter were printed 'Tete-Beche' in a unique format (for them). Does anyone know the previous time there was a Tete-Beche issue from the UK Post Office ? And if, like this one, not easily made available ? Our member sherro will remember this at least. A TB Pair and a single with all the marginal markings one would expect, but rarely see. Colour bars; Shade bars and blocks; Perforation markers; splice marks and more. A really colourful pair 'expertly' cut by yours truly and sent to all parts of the globe. Those were the days !

The top sheet for non-collectors, and the bottom for philatelists, who would know the difference between a postage stamp & a label! Those are nice sheets, Londonbus1. I have a few items from London 1980 that I picked up at Capex '78. A Norwegian booklet & a British souvenir sheet are two. It must have quite the show!

Austria likes to come up with crazy ideas for their stamps. I had already shown their porcelain stamp featuring a rose at thestampforum.boards.net/post/62632/thread. They have also been issuing a series of stamps made out of fabrics, and representing traditional clothes (after starting with some national flowers). They're not the only ones doing this, of course, but they do it more often than most. The middle bottom stamp, for instance, is printed on leather. The latest offering is the hat on the bottom right. It's a somewhat puzzling turn of events, as Austria in the second half of the 20th century was known for very beautiful pictorial issues engraved with great finesse and workmanship. And now they go for such gimmicks.
