Dear friends,
I am a systems specialist working in the telecom industry. I live in the southernmost province of Brazil, neighbouring Uruguay and Argentina. As a young boy I was an avid stamp collector during the late seventies and early eighties. Got started on philately on the cub scout movement and by a couple of philatelists in the family, but I stopped when I left home for college. I started working on tech, dropped out engineering school, and after a twenty five year hiatus I reignited the old passion when rummaging thru my old stuff while clearing out our old home, after the passing of my beloved mother, years ago.
My main focus these days are plate flaws and varieties on brazilian early republican emissions - Southern Crosses, Republican Dawn and "Jornaes", a very early republican 1890 emission of newspaper stamps. I also collect varieties in german hyperinflation stamps, brazilian empire cancellations exclusively on the "auriverde" 1878 emission, and Im currently working on expanding a small collection of pre 1940 universal stamps, after rediscovering the beauty of the engravings on emissions from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, American Bank Note, Waterlow & Sons and others.
Everybody feel free to get in touch if needing help with brazilian stamps, particularly with those early republican emissions I mentioned. Im usually not very active on online forums, as I dont have much spare time, but Ill try my best.
