I love the artwork on this piece which is from a mini-hoard that I found in a box of stamp stuff I got out of storage a few years ago Imperial Reply Coupons in themselves are an interesting collecting area and when I was scratching around to try and some information on the above I came across the following guide which I found very useful Does anyone else have any of these in their collections?

Thanks for starting this thread. I wasn't familiar with international reply coupons so I did a web search and came across this explanation from the Universal Postal Union website: EDIT 1/25: As noted by Rod below, the above information applies to "International" reply coupons and the material Ian has posted are "Imperial" reply coupons.

I thought I would give this thread a little boost
The first Imperial Reply Coupon from Australia that I displayed was a 4d one postmaked "Mudgee NSW"
This one is a 3d one postmarked "Castlereagh Street NSW" - It was picked up just recently via an ad hoc eBay purchase that was really a "throw away bid" for such an item like this given its condition - A real bargain - FYI Castlereagh Street is one of the main streets in Sydney's CBD
I really had no great intention of buying anymore of these but things happen for a reason
Now the question is do I continue the hunt for more??

Nice. It appears you've moved up a reign. For myself, I'd like to skip ahead two more...when I see these, I look for a KGV-era date. (I'd probably take an EVIII in a pinch, if I found one.)

If you answer yes, does that mean that you'll be bidding on your own item in the upcoming donation auction? Both pieces are such nice specimens that I don't see how you could not want more of them.

Very nice Huckles, I just realised the IMPERIAL reply coupon pays replied postage within the Commonwealth only. vis a vis INTERNATIONAL reply coupon pays returned postage Internationally, as described by Steve.
Within ones own country, a self addressed stamped envelope suffices. Never seen that Catalogue before.

Fascinating subject. I never knew these things existed. I'm amazed by all the knowledgeable people here on this board. Was about to go searching the web to find out what they were used for, but looked at the entire thread first and found that tomiseksj had nicely posted an explanation. Did go over to the US Postal Service site to see if you could purchase one and found this: Guess I'm about a year too late.

Its the only one that I have come across Rod for Imperial Reply Coupons - I was chatting to the author Peter Robin a little while ago and he is in the process of releasing an updated edition that will contain a couple of dozen new listings and additional background information

I must have gotten this from Huckles. It's the exact same date and location as the one he posted at the top of this thread
