Just wanted to share my latest acquisition. Picked up a plate proof of the HRH Prince Albert 6-pence with an orange overprint with very fine centering. The plate proof carries a CV of $250 so it is going to make a nice place-holder until I can get a real #5 stamp (CV $500-2000 used). Here's the scan!

In comparing the proof that 'therealwesty' has purchased against the orange (2TCv) and red (2TCxi) overprints, I would determine that it is an orange overprint.

What I collect: If I have a catalogue for it, I collect it. And I have many catalogues ....

Here are my copies of Canada #2 and #5 - #2 is on laid paper, #5 on wove. They're more valuable than your plate proof according to the catalogue, but visually your proof is far better than my used copies (which are nice enough as used copies go, 4 full margins and strong laid lines visible on the #2). As I get closer to completion on the major numbers, I might have to think about picking up some plate proofs - so far the only one in my Canadian collection is the #3 12d black Queen Victoria, which will undoubtedly remain my only copy of that stamp! Ryan those are great stamps! Though I do agree the proof is visually very appealing. It's too bad poor Albert's face is pretty much obliterated on your specimen of #2, still I would be glad to have it.

Ryan Don't believe my #2 or #5 are quite as nice as yours.I know I'm below ten numbers missing but the budget is a bit tight til we pay off college loans. In the mean while I'm going to try to complete my modern used and try to find some more early pre-cancels.Maybe my perfins and cindys and a few excise as well.
