scb chirped : "My heart 'cries' every time I see somebody has used regular brown tape for fixing a book spine"
Indeed, I was once like that, but have stepped past, this is the way things are, this is how it is, regrettable but nonetheless as it is. A bit like seeing the extra lines in your face when you look in the mirror for a shave, things do age. I guess we have to reflect on the positive, that even this gross attempt, was at least a crude attempt at preservation.

Bored with my usual eBay searches, I decided to search for rare stamps. Realising that this was probably overly ambitious, I narrowed the search to items with a value of between £3 and £7 (yes, you can buy rare stamps in that price range). I then purchased the craziest item that I could find and here it is: a Flying Squad Album for Postage Stamps of the World! There were no stamps remaining inside. The Flying Squad is a branch of the police, also known as The Sweeney, Cockney rhyming slang (Sweeney Todd, the fictional Demon Barber of Fleet Street). Who could have conceived of such a thing? Thomas Cliffe Ltd of Rhyl, that's who.

What I collect: I collect world wide up to 1965 with several specialty albums added due to volume of material I have acquired. At this point I am focused on Canada and British America. I am always on the lookout for stamps and covers with postmarks from communities in Queens County, Nova Scotia. I do list various goods including stamps occasionally on eBay as hdm50

I loved the Flying Squad album daniel posted. The graphics are great. Rather than start a new thread I thought I would share this cringe worthy stock book that came with an auction lot years ago. As others mentioned this became a thing back in the 1970’s. Some of us may even have fallen into this back in the day.
