Association of Employed Druggists in Austria, 1889 Although Apothecaries had been around for centuries, formal study didn't emerge until the 19th century. For pharmacies there were owners and employees. University fees were expensive and it was often the case that employees couldn't afford the fees and those that could afford the fees were then unable to afford to be owners. This was the case for much of the 19th century. In addition pharmacists were mainly overseen by the medical profession and so, didn't have their own voice. Towards the end of the century various unions were formed and this was one them. The stamp states at the bottom, 'To Promote Our Stand'. I found the badge online. The situation today is very different. Study is free and is offered by three state universities: Vienna, Graz and Innsbruck. There is now a single body, the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists, with 1,460 owners and 4,840 employees. Almost 90% of employees are women. Courses are for at least 5 years. When qualified salaries are partly subsidised.

rod222 I can only imagine that it was symbolic of the situation in which they found themselves. Weighed down by the state who were not addressing their circumstances.

The Annexation of Bosnia-Herzegovina 5th October 1908 by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Twelve different colours for this single stamp map design. The Congress of Berlin of 1878, after the Russo-Turkish War, allowed Bosnia-Herzegovina to be administered by Austria-Hungary yet remain part of the Ottoman Empire. In 1908 the Austro-Hungarian Empire declared the complete annexation. This would prove very unpopular with the Muslim and Serb populations and would ultimately lead to World War I. Printed in Graz.

Fritzelack Best Floor Paint Advertising Stamp Founded in 1876, this company still exists today, based in Vienna, and still use this image in their logo. Although the name has changed slightly to Fritze Lacke and it is now part of KANSAI HELIOS. They offer "wall paint to wood protection to metal protection".
