I've been working on some pages in my cover albums this weekend, in between Christmas shopping and snow shoveling. Was just doing some quick online research of this cover I won in, I believe, the first Donation Auction here on TSF ( from firstfrog, I believe, but forgive me if my memory is vague). Turns out the recipient, Mr. Lucius Case of Benzonia, Michigan, was a local political figure. Political Graveyard.com has this to say about Mr Case: William Lucius Case (1856-1933) — also known as William L. Case — of Benzonia, Benzie County, Mich. Born in Trumbull County, Ohio, August 21, 1856. Republican. Lumber dealer; member of Michigan state house of representatives from Leelanau District, 1919-22; member of Michigan state senate 27th District, 1923-26; defeated in primary, 1926; Dry candidate for delegate to Michigan convention to ratify 21st amendment from Wexford District, 1933. Died in Benzonia, Benzie County, Mich., June 26, 1933 (age 76 years, 309 days). Interment at Benzonia Township Cemetery. Will do more research of course. Always looking for that extra tidbit of information.

Actually, I could be wrong. Turns out his fathers name was Lucius William Case (1815-1886). Never trust a single source!

James have you tried the "mormon" genealogy site? WT1 showed me this link a while back. - familysearch.org/search(I'm not exactly sure why it's called that as it really has nothing to do with religion?)

Jeff, thanks for the link. A great resource and will certainly be useful. And, yes, it was set up by the Mormons of Utah. Great believers in family history, among other things. cheers J.

I also wondered what the deal was with Mormons and genealogy. From MormonTopics.org: The nice thing is that anyone is welcome to use these resources both online and at "Family History Centers" around the world, regardless of his or her beliefs. I have not been to the Family History Center here, but I have read several blogs and a few books that specifically mentioned that they were not pressured in any way to join the LDS Church.

I'm not a Mormon- not even close, but the site is indeed very helpful nonetheless! I have absolutely no ill feelings towards any other religion whatsoever! "Be free; Be happy" is my motto. (I'm PA Dutch actually) {a Protestant sect -German Deutsch} What people might refer to as Mennonite, although our family is not devout and considered "English" in almost every aspect. I believe wt1 turned me on to that site?
